Experiencing New Realities

One way to really get the power of a new idea is to have an experience with an altered or non-consensus reality that takes you so far outside of your normal comfort zone that you experience a conversion of reality. When this happens you will, in some ways, never again view your existence with your now outgrown set of expectations. If something like this happens to you, then you have the choice of whether to tell others the details of your encounter with the unexpected and the extraordinary, or keep them to yourself, knowing full well that if you do share them some people might think you to be somewhat unbalanced of mind—in other words, “nuts.” An example of this is the story of how Dr. Dunn was finally able to do this work.

It was the third year that Dr. Dunn had been training with me and it had not been an easy time for him. Sure, he learned a lot over the course of his time with me, but what he really wanted, what had originally excited him about studying with me, was “that thing that I did with my hands”—what became the system that I have called Matrix Energetics. With frustration mounting for both of us during that time, I had tried in every way possible to convey the essence of what he needed to know in order to duplicate my results and experiences. I have to admit that sometimes I wasn’t the nicest of teachers either.

All good things must come to an end, and there were little hints in our relationship that Mark was approaching a breaking point where he could not, or would not, pursue the matter any further. The more he tried to duplicate my results with his small number of clients, the more vexed he would become and the harder he would try, all the while building a wall of frustration between himself and the desired outcome. I told him many times that he needed to turn that frustration into fascination, which would keep him in a more resourceful state. But he couldn’t hear that at the time, and my saying so only seemed to frustrate him even more.

One Saturday morning the breaking point arrived. Mark wasted no time that day informing me of his feelings: “I have tried for three long years to do what you can do with your hands and I can’t take it anymore. I give up! I’ll give myself three more hours this morning, and if at the end of that time I still cannot do it, then that’s it. I am finished with you. I quit. I can’t take anymore. I am walking out that door and you will never see me again!” Though saddened inwardly at this tragic turn of events, I remained calm on the exterior, and holding up my wrist to look at my watch, said, “Okay then, I will check back with you in two and a half hours.”

At the appointed time I made my way to Dr.
